Named after the Urania Scientific Society who used the building at the start of the 20th century for hosting presentations with moving images, today this grand old building makes for one of the most atmospheric film experiences in Budapest. Reserve one of the auditorium's 543 seats (preferably in the upper tier!) and admire the ornamented ceiling, faded purple seats and pillars carved with Venetian and Moorish motifs whilst you wait for the show to start. Afterwards why not retire to their turn-of-the-century cafe to discuss the merits of what you just saw? |
