Hungaroring - Formula 1 Race

There will be plenty of va-va- vroom at Budapest's Formula 1 motor racing championships this month. The city has been hosting a track race ever since 1986 after Bernie Ecclestone helped motor racing penetrate the steely iron curtain. It's been getting bigger ever since and they'll be competitors from all over the world, burning the rubber to be the county's No 1. Catch Lewis Hamiliton, Jensen Button and Mark Webber all vying to spray the champers over themselves.

Water Carnival and Bridge Festival

The River Danube snakes its way through Budapest's heart and there's no better way to enjoy the city than lapping up some fun at the city's Water Carnival where you can indulge your cultural senses in music, performances and sports events all laid on for you... you got it, on the water.

You can also wander along the car-free Chain Bridge and delight in some melodic Hungarian tunes, sample a culinary Hungarian sweet treat, such as chimey cakes, or pick up a classic Hungarian handicraft at one of the many stalls set up along the riverbank. You can also take a break and tune in to a tale of mystery as storytellers weave a yarn for your pleasure. Highlights of the day include a motorboat race and the traditional ending of floating candles on the water as fireworks crack overhead. Sweet magic!
